Blanchard River Broadcasting's Full Service/WFIN (1330am, Findlay) recently received FCC approval to add a 250 watt FM translator: W238CX. In 2013, Whiplash radio tried to sell their WYCL (1540am, Niles) and WHTX (1570am, Warren). That sale didn't go through, so Whiplash surrenders the licenses for both radio stations. WYCL went on the air in 1963 as WNIO, (NIles, Ohio). The Niles Broadcasting Company owned WNIO (father Frank and son Robert Bevilacqua, and Stephen Conti.) WHTX went on the air in 1955 as WHOT (then, a daytimer), and it was one of the first Top 40 (what we'd now call CHR) formatted radio stations. Cumulus wants the FCC to dismiss a Youngstown application
Cumulus Media wants the FCC to dismiss their application for a new translator on 99.9fm, licensed to Youngstown. Originally, Cumulus wanted that translator to simulcast CBS Sports Radio affiliate WBBW (Sports Radio 1240am). Cumulus asked for this dismissal to satisfy a MX application/settlement agreement with Dale Edwards' Kingstrust LLC. Kingstrust has an application with the FCC for their own translator on 99.9fm, licensed to Cortland.
