In 2013, Whiplash radio tried to sell their WYCL (1540am, Niles) and WHTX (1570am, Warren). That sale didn't go through, so Whiplash surrenders the licenses for both radio stations. WYCL went on the air in 1963 as WNIO, (NIles, Ohio). The Niles Broadcasting Company owned WNIO (father Frank and son Robert Bevilacqua, and Stephen Conti.)
